Celerity Gets Cyber Savvy

Cyber Essentials Badge (High Res).pngCelerity is delighted to announce its accreditation under the Cyber Essentials Scheme in accordance with the UK Government’s National Cyber Security Strategy.

Organised crime has been quick to take advantage of the opportunities offered by the Internet, particularly the growth in e-commerce and online banking.

Cyber Essentials is a government scheme aimed at strengthening IT security in companies of all sizes. It is the first scheme of its kind; allowing organisations to become certified and thereby demonstrating to customers and business partners that cyber security is taken seriously.

Chris Roche, Director at Celerity, commented “As a business we are committed to providing our clients with the highest level of data protection and security. The Cyber Essentials accreditation clearly demonstrates our continued commitment to the prevention of cyber-attacks and cyberterrorism, protecting and securing services, and protecting data by raising awareness and taking proactive measures to ensure Information Security Management is top priority. Celerity has held ISO 27001 accreditation for several years, and we see Cyber Essentials as a way of further strengthening our security measures.”

Specialist criminal groups target individuals, small businesses and large corporate networks to steal personal information in bulk in order to profit from the compromised data available to them. Cyber Essentials offers a sound foundation of basic hygiene measures that all types of organisations can implement and potentially build upon.  Government believes that implementing these measures can significantly reduce an organisation's vulnerability. The five basic controls within Cyber Essentials were chosen because, when properly implemented, they will help to protect against unskilled internet-based attackers using commodity capabilities – which are freely available on the internet.

"We see the Cyber Essentials accreditation as a prerequisite for doing business with our customers. Achieving a certification which has been assessed through the Assurance Framework, demonstrates to our customers and partners that we have taken these essential precautions and that security controls are in place to protect the business, its IT system, services and its information at all times.”
