Dave Kay Joins Celerity Board of Directors To Support Business Transformation
Celerity is delighted to announce that Dave Kay has joined the Celerity board of directors in a non-executive role. Dave will be working with the board in an advisory capacity after many years of working alongside Celerity in his roles at global technology giant IBM.
Who is Dave Kay?
Dave started out as a trainee sales representative for Burroughs Machines back in September 1978. From there his journey involved careers at Data General, Sequent and latterly at IBM in sales, sales management, and sales leadership positions.
After joining IBM in 1999, Dave first came across Celerity in 2002 when he ran IBM’s Power business in the UK, Ireland, Netherlands & South Africa. This was the start of a highly successful career at IBM, resulting in Dave's last positions being Sales VP for UK & Ireland and European VP for IBM’s Business Partners.
In these roles he was especially keen to promote and lead the transformation both of IBM’s 2,000 sellers and of the sales forces of IBM’s business partner community, towards a new sales methodology where the eminence of the individual seller is the key ingredient.
The new generation of successful sellers maintains a strong digital presence and uses social media to build a vibrant network of contacts in order to connect better with its clients, its partners and its technology vendors.
“In short, today’s progressive IT seller is keen to promote his or her own personal brand. Their sales eminence, their business knowledge, their industry expertise and advice are the vital ingredients their customers are now looking to invest in" commented Dave. "In my new advisory role with Celerity I’m especially keen to help the company directors continue the transformation of Celerity to a mainstream managed services business with a strong emphasis on security” .
Celerity's Chief Operating Officer, Craig Aston, commented “The directors are delighted to welcome Dave to the Board of Celerity, his enthusiasm, business knowledge and passion for both People’s Eminence and Cyber Security mean he is the ideal person to work with the board to take Celerity on it’s journey to becoming a Services business with Data Protection and Cyber Security at the core”.
Dave retired from IBM in July 2016 and since then has enjoyed spending time with his family, especially with his 5 grandchildren and now has time to watch all of his favourite sports of cricket, rugby and football. Despite living in Surrey, Dave is still a keen Preston North End fan and a life member of Lancashire County Cricket Club; travelling all over the world to watch cricket.
As an active social media user, Dave regularly tweets about the IT industry as well as writing articles on Cyber Security which highlight his keen interest in the development of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and the Internet of Things (IoT).
The directors and team at Celerity are very excited to have Dave on board and look forward to working together to drive the business forward for a prosperous and successful 2019.
Welcome aboard Dave!
