Getting the most from IBM Power & SAP HANA
For those organisations using SAP HANA, getting the most from your database has never been so important.
As discussed in an earlier blog, the quantity of structured and unstructured data available to organisations is soaring and organisations often struggle to simplify the complex nature of all the data streams available to them.
It is why companies throughout the world are now running their SAP applications on IBM Power Systems. In comparison to x86-based alternatives, companies get better and faster results by implementing SAP HANA applications on Power. The combination of excellent performance, reliability and flexibility make IBM Power Systems a versatile consolidation platform for multiple SAP HANA databases, traditional SAP applications and other workloads.
Discover how some of the world’s leading brands reaped the benefits of faster business processes, and industry leading security through IBM Power Systems through the case studies below:
Business Requirement: Mondi’s senior decision makers wanted to gain answers to complex, yet vital, business questions, however data volumes were continuously slowing down the system. Mondi enlisted the help of IBM to perform the end-to-end migration of its SAP Business Warehouse solution to the SAP HANA Data Warehouse. In addition, Mondi is moving its SAP ERP systems to IBM POWER8 servers.
Business Transformation: Mondi decided to migrate its SAP Business Warehouse system to the leading-edge SAP HANA database, which uses columnar structures to enable lightning-fast data analysis. For expert support during the complex migration, Mondi chose to engage an external partner, and selected IBM Services.
A dedicated team of twelve people from IBM Services in Austria provided consulting and solution design services for the migration. A further team from IBM Services based in India manages Mondi’s SAP applications and rolled out the solution across Mondi’s global business.
- Three-times faster reporting paves the way to smarter decision-making
- System downtime of just two days during migration, rather than the initial six
- 200 hours saved every month, so staff can focus on reacting to insights
“We are very happy with the service we receive from IBM and SAP. These companies give us innovative solutions that underpin our entire business, and for over a decade IBM has helped us complete complex technology projects that deliver real value to our business,” Rainer Steffl, Information Management Director, Mondi Europe & International.
Business Requirement: In order to analyse and process huge volumes of client data quickly and efficiently, Happynarae migrated its business-critical SAP® ERP applications to the SAP S/4HANA platform, deployed on powerful IBM Power Systems servers.
Business Transformation: Rising to the challenge, Happynarae decided to upgrade the database underlying its SAP ERP applications to SAP HANA and SAP S/4HANA for IBM Power Systems architecture. The new solution, which runs on SUSE Linux Enterprise Server for SAP Applications, enables rapid analysis of colossal quantities of data.
- Improves decision-making by enabling rapid data access
- Boosts service quality by helping identify opportunities to secure bulk-buy discounts
- Enables social enterprises to fine-tune their marketing activities, boosting sales
“With SAP ERP powered by SAP HANA on IBM POWER8, we have become more adept at recognizing opportunities for social enterprises, “spokesperson, Happynarae.
