General data protection regulation (gdpr)

The gdpr expands and standardises the previous data protection rules across the whole of the european union.

Data privacy and security are two of the most important aspects of any organisation.

GDPR means you must protect, govern and know your data. This regulation will apply to any organisation that operates in the EU and processes the personal data of EU subjects. GDPR is not a choice, should you be non-compliant there is potential for large fines of up to €20 million or 4% of total annual worldwide turnover, whichever is greater.

What GDPR means for your organisation is that EU data subjects must be able to control what personal information is held about them and understand how you are using this information. The regulation covers all data that directly or indirectly identifies a data subject, and data that may make a data subject identifiable.  GDPR imposes strict rules for acquiring consent for lawful data processing and regulates powers to ensure compliance with these rules.

Celerity can help you on your journey to GDPR complaince by offering a modular range of data protection solutions that will integrate seamlessly with your existing system so that managing, controlling and governing your data will be an efficient, automated process:

  • Identification & Understanding Your environment – We will work with you to identify & analyse areas of your business which may be impacted by the GDPR.
  • Consultation – We will help design, develop & implement tailored solutions in line with data privacy requirements, as well as from an operational, information technology & information security perspective, all of which are key to data privacy/protection compliance.
  • Security - Reduce & mitigate risks by detecting, addressing & preventing security breaches. From discovery & classification to vulnerability assessment, to encryption, blocking, alerting & quarantining to protect your sensitive data.
  • Compliance – ensure compliance of how personal data is processed through your internal (governance) processes by keeping track of & reporting data breaches, whilst documenting how data is obtained, from where, how & on what date.
  • Agile Data Integration & Governance - build confidence in data exploration & management, gain insight into your unstructured data with tools & methodologies to instrument & enforce policies.

We will be members of the EU in 2018 and therefore it would be expected and quite normal for us to opt into the GDPR and then look later at how best we might be able to help British business with data protection while maintaining high levels of protection for members of the public.”
